The Jacobs Family

How could we ever forget the lady who gave us our first paying job - mailing  GOP voter info!  She made sure the job came with perqs...lunches at Denny's, throwing out candy for "Love the Guv" and decorating the horse and buggy for Vanderhoof at the Wheat Ridge Carnation Festivals...how cool was that when you're 10-11 years old?

Her house was our second home and always open for us and our fun and games...days and nights on the trampoline, pet turtles and bunnies, Troll dolls and plots to catch cattle rustlers and Communists lurking in the cattails. She took us with her on countless errands and trips - to Lakeside Mall, and most importantly, to WESTERNAIRES. (in what had to be one of the first Broncos off the production line)  She must have had the patience of a saint (or deaf ears) while we played and sang along with our first album - The Guess Who - about 10,000 times.  (Definitely a deaf ear to all the prank calls we made from the off-limits office!)   Plus tolerating that stench from our muddy sneakers when we went up to the horse fields.

She was active and progressive and fun and we loved and respected our neighbor in the "new house up the block."

We have so many fond memories of our childhood with you and all your family, Marta!  Street games, dirt caves, bike rodeos; the boys' secret fort, Mud Lake; John giving us Jeep rides, Ronnie's pranks (stuffing us in the rabbit turd trash can!); sledding and skating, Cheryl's vacation with your family, John and Dirk pulling me out when the ice broke; our track coach Dads smoking away while they "borrowed" starting blocks for the OTIS STREET KIDS Track Team...but Hey!  We won!!

Our hearts and prayers extend across the years and miles to you and your family on behalf of all the Jacobs.

With love and sympathy,  Cheryl and Cathy
